Pulse, a Technitrol (NYSE: TNL) Company, a worldwide leader in electronic component and subassembly design and manufacturing, announces the release of its 2009 Pulse Product Catalog. Packed with over 300 photos, charts, and diagrams, the catalog gives product information and listings for Pulse's diverse and expanded portfolio of products from its 12 product groups: advanced acoustics, antennas, automotive, connectors, Excelsus, high volume transducers (HVT), LAN, medical, military & aerospace, power, RF & wireless, and telecom. A sample of the types of products designed and manufactured by these groups includes classic Pulse magnetics (transformers, inductors and chokes); xDSL splitters, filters, and transformers; a broad spectrum of wireless antennas; components for hearing instruments; microphones, speakers, and receivers; and filtered and unfiltered connectors.

In keeping with Pulses environmental policy, the Pulse Product Catalog for 2009 will be paperless, available only in PDF format on the Pulse website. On the home page, the top-level catalog link is conveniently located on the right-hand navigation bar. The use of separate files for each product line precludes having to download the entire catalog. Alternatively, the data sheet menu page contains a complete catalog PDF for a full download. Numerous part comparison and cross reference charts, explanations, and photos facilitate product identification and selection.

Among the new products in the 2009 catalog are:

  • A series of low-loss, high-saturation, high-efficiency flat-coil surface-mount (SMT) power inductors used to store energy and serve as filters in voltage regulator modules (VRMs) in notebook and desktop computers, workstations, and servers. The inductors are used also for high-density, high-power, high-temperature dc/dc applications such as point-of-load (POL) converters (http://ww2.pulseeng.com/products/datasheets/P667.pdf);
  • An Excelsus brand, VDSL2-compatible, in-line xDSL filter that is small, attractive, efficient, and filters frequencies up to 30 MHz (http://ww2.pulseeng.com/products/datasheets/EX101.pdf);
  • A balun to support IPTV that enables DSL or home phoneline frequencies to be transmitted from twisted pair to coaxial media and vice versa, supporting VDSL2 and HomePNA deployments (http://ww2.pulseeng.com/products/datasheets/EX100.pdf);
  • Innovative components for hearing instruments, such as the DCU Scroller to inconspicuously adjust hearing aid volume (http://www.pulseeng.com/index.php?id=927&page_id=927&archive=&cat_ids=x7x&news_id=222);
  • An integrated speaker/antenna module for audio and RF performance in mobile devices (http://www.pulseeng.com/index.php?id=927&page_id=927&archive=&cat_ids=x7x&news_id=212);
  • Seven new series of power bead inductors, giving designers the ability to optimize performance across a broad range of applications, frequencies, and load requirements. They improve efficiency in desktop, notebook, and server applications (http://www.pulseeng.com/index.php?id=927&page_id=927&archive=&cat_ids=x7x&news_id=221);
  • Pulses SMT ceramic GPS antenna, the worlds smallest GPS antenna, yet the highest-performing antenna in its size category. Its ideal for mobile phones, navigation systems, small portable GPS receivers like PDAs and PNDs, and surveillance, timing, and other devices that need to access satellite GPS signals (http://www.pulseeng.com/index.php?id=927&page_id=927&archive=&cat_ids=x7x&news_id=209); and
  • An expanded line of single and ganged connector cages up to a 2x8 SFP (small-form-factor pluggable) to shield high-end Ethernet networking equipment such as blade servers, routers, and add/drop multiplexers from electromagnetic interference. The high port density results in cost savings for Pulse customers (http://www.pulseeng.com/index.php?id=619&news_id=229).
