Total SE said Thursday that its joint venture in India is
increasing its power output with the addition of new solar-power
farms.
The French energy company formed a joint venture in April with
Adani Green Energy Ltd.--a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Ltd.--to
which the Indian company contributed a portfolio of 2.1 gigawatts
of solar power, Total said. The two companies have now agreed to
extend the portfolio to 2.3 GW by adding new solar farms, as
provided for in the initial contract.
"With an ambitious target of 175 GW of installed capacity by
2022, India is a strong growth area for renewable energy," said
Patrick Pouyanne, Total's chief executive and chairman.
