Brazilian mobile phone subscriptions rose to 185.1 million in June, up 0.8% from May, according to figures released Thursday by telecommunications regulator Anatel.

Net additions totaled 1.42 million in June compared with 2.95 million net additions in May, Anatel said.

Vivo Participacoes SA (VIV, VIVO4.BR) maintained market leadership in June with a 30.24% share of subscriptions, down slightly from 30.25% in May. Vivo is jointly owned by Spain's Telefonica SA (TEF, TEF.MC) and Portugal Telecom SGPS SA (PT, PTC.LB).

Claro, the local unit of Mexico's America Movil SA (AMOV, AMX.MX), was second with a 25.33% share, down from 25.41% in May.

TIM Participacoes (TSU, TCSL4.BR) was in third place with 24.0%, up from 23.84%. TIM is the local unit of Telecom Italia SpA (TIA, TIT.MI).

Fourth-place mobile-phone operator Oi (TNE, TNLP4.BR) registered a share of 20.08% in June, down from 20.15% the previous month.
