Foreign-exchange trade revenue increased 2.6% at State Street in
the fourth quarter of 2012 from the third quarter of the same year,
due to higher trading volume.
Still, lower volatility throughout 2012 took a toll on the
firm's foreign-exchange trade compared with the year-earlier period
as trade revenue dropped 21% from the fourth quarter of 2011.
Volume in the firm's electronic foreign-exchange trading unit
increased in the fourth quarter from the third quarter of 2012, the
firm's Chief Financial Officer Edward Resch said on the earnings
call.
