State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT), one of the world’s leading providers of financial services to institutional investors, today announced that it was ranked No. 1 overall (weighted) in the 2010 Global Investor Transition Management survey and received two Best in Class Awards in the 2010 PLANSPONSOR Transition Management survey.

The Global Investor Transition Management Survey ranks transition managers around the world by different asset levels and across 11 individual service categories. State Street’s No. 1 weighted ranking was based on its ability to provide clients with global transitions across asset classes, regions and markets.

In addition to its top overall ranking, State Street also achieved No. 1 weighted rankings in the following categories: Responses Covered by a Transition Management Agreement, Qualifiers in All Regions, Transitions Over $1 Billion, Respondents with Assets Under Management of More Than $3 Billion and Pension Fund Respondents.

PLANSPONSOR’s 2010 Transition Management Survey collected data from transition managers concerning the scale and scope of their business as well as client profile information. Institutional clients, consultants, and investment managers provided feedback on the services provided by their transition managers. State Street received two Best in Class honors – “Top Rated” among consultants in the Pre-Trade, Post-Trade, Organization and Support category and “Commended” among consultants in the Execution category.

“We are very pleased with our top rankings in these important industry surveys,” said Ross McLellan, senior managing director of State Street Global Markets. “State Street’s transition management offering combines our global expertise and local market knowledge with a full range of research and advisory solutions to provide clients with the most comprehensive and customized multi-asset class trading tools.”

State Street is the one of the world’s most experienced and largest transition managers, with approximately $500 billion in assets transitioned annually. In the past five years it managed more than 3,400 transitions globally across the full spectrum of asset classes.

State Street was also named Transition Manager of the Year in the Asia-Pacific region by The Asset magazine in its 2010 Transaction Banking Awards.
