State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT), the worlds leading provider
of financial services to institutional investors, is proud to
sponsor Boston Ballets production of The Nutcracker this holiday
season at the recently restored Boston Opera House. As part of its
support, State Street will also enable underprivileged youth in the
Greater Boston area to access a number of Nutcracker productions by
allocating tickets to several community organizations which serve a
wide range of local neighborhoods. Our long-standing support of
Boston Ballet, which spans more than two decades, underscores not
only our commitment to local performing arts and historical icons,
but also to preserving and protecting Bostons cultural
development, said Ron Logue, State Street chairman and chief
executive officer. As a time-honored tradition, The Nutcracker has
become an important rite of passage for local children and
families. State Streets ongoing partnership with several local
community organizations provides wider community access to the
performing arts and broadens exposure to unique educational
programs and events such as Citydance. Citydance is Boston Ballets
most extensive education and outreach program that brings dance
workshops to more than 2,700 Boston Public School children in
nearly 250 classrooms each fall. Students showing the most
curiosity and natural aptitude are then invited to Boston Ballets
studios for 10 weeks of free dance classes; more than 300 choose to
attend each year. Boston Ballets 2006 production of The Nutcracker
is the latest installment of State Streets support of the local
arts community, which recently included sponsorship of Fashion
Show: Paris Collections 2006, a major exhibition at the Museum of
Fine Arts, Boston, on view through March 18, 2007; and a $3 million
contribution to support the Institute of Contemporary Arts new and
expanded facility on Bostons waterfront. The 2006 production of
The Nutcracker, choreographed by Boston Ballet Artistic Director
Mikko Nissinen, features the entire company and more than 200
children from Boston Ballet School. There are also some exciting
new surprises courtesy of renowned magician Marco the Magi. The
world-renowned Tchaikovsky score is performed by the Boston Ballet
Orchestra, led by Music Director and Principal Conductor Jonathan
McPhee and Associate Conductor Mark Churchill. About State Street
