Two New Directors Elected to Newfield Board HOUSTON, May 5
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Newfield Exploration Company (NYSE:NFX)
today announced that two new independent directors were elected to
the Company's board of directors at its annual meeting of
stockholders, held earlier today in Houston. With the election, 11
of Newfield's 13 directors are independent as defined under New
York Stock Exchange guidelines. The newly elected directors are:
Pamela J. Gardner Gardner is President of Business Operations of
Houston McLane Company d/b/a Houston Astros Baseball Club. She has
served in variety of leadership positions with the Astros
organization since joining the club in 1989. Gardner was named
President of Business Operations in August 2001 and now oversees
all revenue areas, customer service, building and financial
operations, sponsorship and ticket sales, as well as community and
marketing outreach programs. Gardner serves on the boards of the
Astros in Action Foundation, the Houston Area Women's Center and
the board and executive committee of Central Houston, Inc. Prior to
joining the Astros, she spent 10 years with an advertising and
public relations agency, serving the last five years as vice
president of the entertainment division. Gardner is a graduate of
the University of Wisconsin- Stout. Gardner was appointed to two
committees on Newfield's Board -- Nominating and Corporate
Governance and Audit. Juanita F. Romans Romans is Senior Vice
President of Memorial Hermann Healthcare System and Chief Executive
Officer of Memorial Hermann Hospital. She has served in these roles
since January 2003. Romans has nearly 20 years of healthcare
leadership experience from a managed care environment, with an
extensive background in clinical, financial and administrative
services. Romans serves on the boards of The Children's Assessment
Center, South Main Center Association and Save Our ERs. She is also
a member of the Voluntary Hospital Association, Texas Hospital
Association, Texas Association of Public and Non-profit Hospitals,
Greater Houston Partnership and Texas Executive Women. Prior to
joining Memorial Hermann, Romans served as an executive vice
president with Evanston Northwestern Healthcare in Evanston,
Illinois. Romans holds a Masters of Science in nursing from Wayne
State and is an associate in the American College of Healthcare
Executives. Romans was appointed to two committees on Newfield's
Board -- Nominating and Corporate Governance and Audit. Newfield
