Gold Fields Limited (NYSE: GFI)(NASDAQ: GFI)(JSE: GFI)(DUBAI: GFI) announced today that its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary, Gold Fields Metals B.V. ("Gold Fields"), acquired 1,630,870 common shares of Atacama Pacific Gold Corporation ("Atacama") in connection with Atacama's initial public offering on November 10, 2010.

Gold Fields now holds 4,945,598 common shares of Atacama, representing approximately 13.4% of Atacama's outstanding shares, and 1,657,365 common share purchase warrants. If exercised, the 1,657,365 warrants owned by Gold Fields would, together with the 4,945,598 common shares owned by Gold Fields, represent approximately 17.1% of the issued and outstanding common shares in Atacama. The shares have been acquired for investment purposes and Gold Fields may increase or decrease its holdings in Atacama at prices which it determines to be attractive at any time pursuant to market transactions or negotiated transactions.
