Chesapeake Energy Sees 2Q Earnings, Revenue Increase

Chesapeake Energy Corp. (CHK) reported Tuesday that second
quarter profit that revenue exceeded analysts expectations, but the
company missed The Street's adjusted earnings expectations.
The Oklahoma City-based upstream oil company reported earnings
of 5 cents a share, up from a loss of 30 cents a share in the prior
year period. Analysts polled by FactSet estimated a loss of 6 cents
a share.
On an adjusted basis, Chesapeake the company posted a loss of 10
cents a share. Analysts were expecting a loss of 6 cents a
share.
Chesapeake reported second quarter revenue of $2.39 billion, up
from $2.29 billion during last year's second quarter. Analysts were
looking for revenue of $2.37 billion.
