CGI Group Inc. (TSX:GIB.A)(NYSE:GIB), a leading provider of
information technology (IT) and business process services, is
pleased to announce the appointment of Ken Taylor as
Vice-President, Cybersecurity Canada to lead and continue building
CGI's cybersecurity practice. With more than 23 years of
experience, including 12 years with the Department of National
Defence, Ken has successfully managed complex programs focused on
global cybersecurity, cloud computing and identity and access
management systems. In his new role, Ken will work closely with
both government and commercial clients as part of the newly formed
Canadian Defence, Public Safety and Intelligence business unit
under the leadership of Lieutenant-General (retired) Andrew Leslie.
"Securing cyberspace will contribute directly to Canada's safety
and security while at the same time, safeguard our global economic
advantage," commented Lt-Gen (retired) Leslie, CGI Senior
Vice-President, Canadian Defence, Public Safety and Intelligence.
"CGI has supported the Government of Canada for many years and
across many critical initiatives. Ken has a deep understanding of
our nation's vital cyber systems and what it takes to protect them,
while staying one step ahead of the next threat."
"Cybersecurity is recognized as an extraordinarily difficult
strategic challenge that requires a disciplined and systematic
approach," said Ken Taylor. "Today's cyber threats are constantly
changing and becoming more complex."
Also joining the cybersecurity practice is John Proctor, an
internationally recognized security and risk expert with 22 years
of experience serving the British and Canadian forces. Under John's
leadership, CGI has expanded its cybersecurity practice to include
a human factors component. This capability is designed to better
manage and govern the role of the human element of security and
will include the processes, policies, and human behaviours to
provide an end-to-end cybersecurity offering to our clients.
Finally, CGI is also expanding its existing IT Security
Evaluation and Test Facility based in Ottawa, Ontario. This
facility is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada and the
National Voluntary Lab Accreditation Program that provides
compliance testing against leading IT security standards including
Common Criteria and FIPS 140. It is one of only two such facilities
for Common Criteria in Canada and, as a result, government and
large consumers of commercial security certification services rely
on CGI's expertise to evaluate their core technologies before
deployment.
