Central Vermont Public Service Corporation is an electric utility company engaged in the purchase, production, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity. As of December 31, 2010, the Company serves about 159,000 customers in 163 towns, villages and cities in Vermont. The Company’s Vermont utility operation is its core business. The Company generates its revenues through retail electricity sales. It also sells excess power, if any, to third parties in New England and to the operators of the region’s bulk power system and wholesale electricity markets. On December 9, 2010, the Company dissolved CRC’s wholly owned subsidiary, Eversant Corporation, the former parent of SmartEnergy Water Heating Services, Inc.
