KNOXVILLE, Tenn., May 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sea Ray Boats employees at the Tellico Lake facility in Vonore and at the Riverview plant in Knoxville are each celebrating a safety milestone, respectively achieving 3 and 1 million work hours without a lost-time incident. The Tellico Lake facility has won the award for the third consecutive year, while the Riverview facility is being honored for the first time. In recognition of these accomplishments, Brunswick Corporation, Sea Ray's parent company, has awarded both facilities the Chairman's Gold Safety Award, to be presented on May 10, by Dustan E. McCoy, chairman and chief executive officer - Brunswick Corporation, and Peter B. Hamilton, president - Brunswick Boat Group. "Such recognition is no stranger to Sea Ray's plants, as some of them have won the Brunswick Chairman's Safety Award on more than one occasion," said Richard C. Stone, president of Sea Ray Boats. "We will continue to aim for record-setting milestones." "I am very proud of Sea Ray employees for contributing to our commitment to safety," added McCoy. "I am even prouder of their generosity and their commitment to their communities in East Tennessee, home to Sea Ray Boats for almost 50 years." In conjunction with this award, Brunswick Corporation has committed to donations on behalf of Sea Ray employees to three charitable organizations. Employees of the Tellico Lake facility elected to split their $100,000 award evenly ($50,000 each) between the Monroe County Boys and Girls Club in Madisonville, and St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. The Riverview facility employees chose to donate their $10,000 award to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Knoxville. Representatives from all three organizations will be in attendance for the celebration. In 2005, Sea Ray's Tellico Lake employees had received the Gold Safety Award for achieving 2 million work hours without a lost-time incident and had chosen to donate their $50,000 award to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Knoxville. Sea Ray Boats has 760 employees at the Tellico Lake facility, which manufactures sport boats from 18 to 24 feet in length, and 580 employees at the Riverview plant, which produces sport boats and cruisers from 24 to 30 feet in length. In addition to this double milestone, Sea Ray as a whole has seen significant reductions in numbers of injuries and first-aid cases since 2004.
