BlackRock Inc. (BLK) General Counsel Robert P. Connolly announced his retirement internally about two weeks ago, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing a BlackRock spokeswoman.

Matthew Mallow, who joined the company as a senior adviser in 2010, is now interim general counsel, Reuters said.

Citing people familiar with the matter, Reuters reported that internal conflicts were a factor in Connolly's retirement.
