Walmart Inc. (WMT) named Janey Whiteside to fill the company's newly created role of chief customer officer on Monday.

The company also named Barbara Messing, who came from TripAdvisor, as chief marketing officer.

Walmart said Ms. Whiteside will work to draw in new customers and will use her 20 years of experience at American Express to attract younger customers and grow rewards card membership.
