TechTarget and NPower Unite to Support the Information Technology Needs of Nonprofits

Technology media company TechTarget, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTGT) today
announced it is launching a joint initiative with NPower, a
national nonprofit organization that provides information
technology (IT) services and training to nonprofits and young
adults, to promote skilled IT volunteerism through The Community
Corps.
A unit of NPower, The Community Corps (TCC) provides a fully
automated online program that connects skilled IT professionals to
nonprofits in need of specific IT support. TCC supports an
expanding range of nonprofit organizations that includes
foundations, community groups, social service organizations and
most recently schools and libraries. This innovative program was
launched last November through the extended support of core
sponsors Accenture and JPMorgan Chase. The TCC platform enables
nonprofits to choose from a list of short-term, structured,
high-impact projects that are supported by qualified, prescreened
volunteers from NPower’s corporate partners and supporters. The
program provides continuous online support, project management
tools, a mobile app and social networking opportunities.
The joint initiative will enhance TCC’s brand awareness among IT
professionals and potential technology vendor partners through an
online branding and social media campaign. The multi- media
campaign is also designed to spur CIO’s, CEO’s and IT professionals
to encourage corporate IT volunteerism among their respective
companies. The campaign will include appropriate group
conversations across LinkedIn, blog conversations on
ITKnowledgeExchange.com, and a new TechTarget ad format that
integrates all of TCC’s marketing collateral and content assets
about the program.
“TechTarget’s support is going to be a major boost in helping
NPower close the IT gap for nonprofits. Almost 90 percent of
nonprofits in the U.S. have little or no in-house IT support—and
this limits their ability to deliver their programs and services,”
said Stephanie Cuskley, NPower CEO. “TechTarget’s social media ad
campaign on behalf of The Community Corps will raise awareness and
encourage corporate volunteerism in the technology sector and this
will have a positive impact on nonprofits and the communities they
serve.”
“TechTarget is uniquely qualified to increase The Community
Corps’ volunteer base and participation because of our nearly 10
million active, registered members and our media’s ability to offer
convergence of branding, social, lead generation and online
advertising,” said Marilou Barsam, senior vice president of client
consulting and corporate marketing, TechTarget. “Our goal is to use
these strengths to recruit technology professionals who want to
help nonprofit organizations accomplish their goals of helping
communities. Additionally, TechTarget’s own IT staff has committed
to volunteering its expertise to NPower’s TCC program,” continued
Barsam.
