Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) said its own Kindle Fire tablet and
Activision Blizzard Inc.'s (ATVI) first-person-shooter videogame
"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" ranked among the online retailer's
best-selling products this year.
Amazon had said Thursday that strong sales of its Kindle Fire
tablet helped the online retailing company record its best holiday
season ever for the Kindle line. The entire Kindle family has been
a blockbuster product for Amazon, although the company has always
been guarded about the devices' specific sales figures.
At Activision, the success of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3"
has been crucial to the company as it has shifted its strategy to
releasing fewer, better-quality titles each year. The company last
month said the game's release was the biggest launch of any game
ever.
Also nabbing top spots in 2011 was the biography of Apple Inc.
(AAPL) co-founder Steve Jobs, who passed away in early October.
"Steve Jobs," written by Walter Isaacson, was released later that
month.
Crocs Inc.'s (CROX) classic clog shoe was the top-selling shoe
on Amazon's site, while Rory's Story Cubes were the most
sought-after children's toy.
