Illinois Lawmakers To Consider Tax Break For CME, CBOE -Report
October 20 2011 - 8:59AM
Dow Jones News
The Illinois legislature is expected next week to consider
legislation to cut corporate taxes for the CME Group Inc. (CME) and
CBOE Holdings Inc. (CBOE) to keep the two financial exchanges in
the state, Crain's Chicago reported Thursday on its website.
Senate President John Cullerton said the proposal would change
state law to tax the two exchanges only on trades or sales that
take place in Illinois, thus excluding electronic trades which pass
through the exchanges from out-of-state parties.
A spokesman for the governor's office could not be reached for
comment. A CME spokesman declined comment and a spokesman for CBOE
couldn't be immediately reached.
