Cintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS), the world’s largest uniform services provider, today announced the acceptance of its Chandler, AZ facility as an OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) “Star” site, the agency’s highest recognition for the practice of, and commitment to, world class occupational safety and health. With this, Cintas Corporation becomes the first industrial launderer in the United States to receive VPP “Star” certification.

“There is nothing more important than the health and safety of our employee-partners,” said Scott Farmer, CEO of Cintas Corporation. “Cintas is honored to lead the industry in our quest to become world class in safety, and holds this responsibility in great regard.”

The Voluntary Protection Program promotes effective worksite-based safety and health by establishing strict, performance-based criteria for a managed safety and health system and measuring workplaces against those criteria. Approval into VPP is ADOSH’s official recognition of the outstanding efforts of employers and employees who have achieved exemplary occupational safety and health, according to its website.

“The quality of Cintas’ safety and health program is outstanding,” said Darin Perkins, Director of ADOSH. “Proof of this lies in Cintas’ low injury and lost workday rates which have resulted from implementing effective systems, including training and employee involvement, designed to protect employees at their facility.”

Perkins was among several ADOSH representatives attending today’s flag-raising ceremony at the Cintas facility located at 2425 N. Nevada St., Chandler, AZ. The ceremony was followed by a celebratory luncheon attended by representatives from ADOSH and Cintas, David Raber, Director of the Arizona Department of Administration and David Warkentin, President and CEO of the Chandler Chamber of Commerce, among others.

“Our employee-partners in Chandler, Arizona have proven to the entire industry that this level of safety excellence can be achieved,” said Phillip Holloman, President and Chief Operating Officer. “They have set a precedent of commitment and dedication to operational safety and we couldn’t be more proud of them,” he added.

Cintas Corporation currently has over 70 facilities nationwide actively seeking VPP acceptance in their respective jurisdictions.
