Cintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS) today launched its ReviveRTM Survivor Program, an initiative that honors responders who demonstrate life-saving emergency skills using the Cintas ReviveRTM automated external defibrillator (AED). Cintas’ AEDs have saved nearly 160 lives to date.

“Each year, more than 950,000 Americans die from cardiovascular disease – approximately one quarter resulting from sudden cardiac arrest before they reach the hospital,” said Scott Garula, President and COO, First Aid & Safety, Cintas. “This program recognizes the meaningful efforts of responders, who choose not to stand by but to react when someone is in need. By investing in an AED program, companies are making a commitment to saving lives in the workplace.”

The ReviveR Survivor Program celebrates life-saving responders with an award presented at the site of the incident. In addition, it will honor representatives from the facility where the incident occurred for being prepared for a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) incident.

Research from the American Heart Association cites that providing AEDs on site can increase sudden cardiac arrest survival rates by 74 percent. As seconds count when a heart stops beating, Cintas’ ReviveR AED guides the responder, acting as a personal coach through critical moments. Designed for use by non-professional responders, the AED delivers simple instructions in a clear, calm voice. Also, visual indicators, similar to a smart phone, prompt continuous monitoring of the heart to detect when the patient's heartbeat recovers.

“Cintas’ unique on-site AED program is a vital element of any emergency preparedness program, providing life-saving capabilities for employees who find themselves in a position to treat sudden cardiac arrest in the workplace,” added Nancy Petersen, Senior Marketing Manager, Cintas.

The total Cintas AED program extends beyond the ReviveR AED unit and is focused on all aspects of emergency response. In addition to extensive CPR/AED training, the components of the ReviveR AED program include site assessment by a health and safety expert and periodic maintenance reviews of the ReviveR.
