In preparation for the autumn season, Cintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS) today issued its 2010 Fall Fashion Trends Forecast. Now is the perfect time for hoteliers to review their apparel programs and consider seasonal changes. While functionality is important, runway-inspired apparel registers well with guests and takes a brand to a higher level.

To help hoteliers identify what’s in this season, Cintas issued a list of the top fashion trends for fall 2010:

  • Fresh Formal: The tuxedo is continuing to evolve with classic satin lapels and collars but in slimmer proportions. A metallic accent adds a new twist to the tux, a great detail for banquet servers.
  • Ruche & Ruffle: Shirring creates texture and gives a focal point to the silhouette. Combine a ruffle with ruching for an extra feminine detail on a hostess or cocktail dress. Also, look for gathers or twists to add dimension to a simple blouse, perfect for under a blazer.
  • Sleeveless Tailoring: Sleeveless items look fresh this season with quilting, cut away armholes and belt closures. These create flawless silhouettes for doormen, valet workers and healthcare volunteers.
  • Vivid Colors: Rich shades of purple, beet and cobalt are grounded with a mix of charcoals. These saturated hues bring back a richness that has been missing from the cold-weather wardrobe the past few seasons.
  • Single-Button Jackets: The single closure allows for more shirt and tie to show this season. This simple look was seen on the Calvin Klein and Emporio Armani runways. It’s a clean, modern fashion for front desk or food service personnel.
  • Updated Classics: The tailored button-up shirt is a career classic, but this season’s styles feature new placket trims or pleating. The classic point collar is scaled down and matches well with slimmer neckwear. These styles will always be a staple for front desk, housekeeping supervisors and customer service.
  • Animal Instincts: Animal motifs continue this fall but with an added dimension – the prints are more abstract and have a digital effect, creating a sexy look for cocktail servers, bartenders and hostesses.
  • Outline: Contrast piping draws attention to contoured seams and highlights silhouette shapes in otherwise boxy suits. It’s a great detail for doormen, front desk staff and banquet workers.
  • Perfect Peplums: Peplums are seen on the runways in jackets, dresses and skirts. This feature creates an hourglass shape with dimension. It’s the perfect detail for the property that needs an extra bit of flare.
