Cintas Sets Goal to Recycle 400 tons of Confidential Documents in Honor of Earth Day’s 40th Anniversary

Cintas Corporation plans to recycle more than 400 tons of paper
documents in honor of Earth Day through a series of free community
shred events. Throughout the month of April, local business and
community organizations across the nation will host shredding
events powered by Cintas. These events offer community members and
small businesses a convenient way to discard confidential documents
in a secure and sustainable manner. For every ton of paper
recycled, participants will help save 17 trees, three cubic yards
of landfill space, 4000 kilowatts of energy and 7000 gallons of
water.
“This Earth Day, we hope to exceed our goal of recycling 400
tons of confidential documents to promote environmental awareness
and save natural resources,” said Pamela Coleman, Director of
Supplier Diversity & Corporate Sustainability, Cintas. “We are
excited to offer our secure document shredding services across the
nation to not only protect the environment, but to protect
communities and local businesses from identity theft and data
breaches.”
For each event, local small businesses and community members are
encouraged to bring documents that contain personal information
such as their name, Social Security number or financial
information, to have it destroyed on a secure Cintas truck by a
NAID certified employee. The shredded materials will then be
recycled into secondary paper products, such as paper towels, to
reduce the impact on the environment. Recycling paper saves water,
reduces green house gas emissions and uses 25 percent less energy
than manufacturing paper from trees.
Cintas provides cost-effective document shredding, storage and
imaging programs. Its services are designed to provide businesses
with data privacy and security, compliance with regulatory
requirements and greater control and access to information. By
partnering with companies that share the same goals in protecting
the earth and their communities, Cintas is able to offer its secure
document shredding services to community members nationwide.
“We are committed to protecting the environment and conserving
natural resources through innovative technologies,” said Jamie
Samide, Director of Marketing for Cintas Document Management. “We
are proud to join the worldwide celebration of Earth Day and
educate communities about the enormous impact they can have on the
environment by simply recycling their confidential documents.”
