TD Ameritrade Institutional renames its
national advisor conference as National LINC, where more than 3,000
advisors and industry leaders can Learn, Inspire, Network and
Collaborate
More than 3,000 independent registered investment advisors
(“RIAs”) and other industry leaders will come together at TD
Ameritrade Institutional’s1 National LINC 2015 to meet their peers
and hear from leading thinkers and business experts. This highly
anticipated event now features a new name: LINC, which stands for
Lead, Inspire, Network and Collaborate.
The conference, which takes place at the Manchester Grand Hyatt
in San Diego January 28 - 31, is expected to be TD Ameritrade
Institutional’s largest-ever gathering of RIAs and other industry
executives. The event kicks off with a full slate of preconference
sessions on January 28 and continues with three days of
presentations, breakout sessions and workshops. Journalists can

Advisors can choose from more than 70 presentations and sessions
exploring ways they can better serve clients and explore new
opportunities to make their firms more successful. The conference
will delve into such timely topics as roboadvisor platforms,
enhancing data security, strategies to connect with next generation
investors, engaging clients through social media and pursuing
retirement plan assets.
Educational opportunities extend well beyond these sessions.
Attendees will also have opportunities to speak one-on-one with
practice management experts from across the industry at the
Business Consulting Lounge and visit Veo Village, where technology
companies integrated with the Veo® open access platform can help
show advisors how to streamline routine tasks and boost
productivity.

This year’s keynote speakers include influential and inspiring
leaders from the halls of government, technology, academia and
sports:
Leon E. Panetta is a statesman with a distinguished
career in government. Most recently, he served as U.S. Secretary of
Defense and Central Intelligence Agency director under President
Obama. Previously, Mr. Panetta served as President Clinton’s Chief
of Staff and his Office of Management and Budget director. For 16
years Mr. Panetta represented California’s Silicon Valley in
Congress, where he rose to become chairman of the House Budget
Committee. Panetta was formerly an assistant to the Secretary of
Health, Education, and Welfare and Office for Civil Rights director
under President Nixon. He served as a U.S. Army intelligence
officer (1964 to 1966) and received an Army Commendation Medal.
Earvin “Magic” Johnson. National Basketball League Hall
of Famer Magic Johnson has parlayed his skills on the court to the
business world through Magic Johnson Enterprises, a company that
focuses on urban communities through alliances, investments and
endorsements. Among his business interests are a $1 billion real
estate fund, a $500 million private equity fund, the Aspire
television network and media company Vibe Holdings. Mr. Johnson,
who with other investors recently bought the Los Angeles Dodgers,
is currently working to bring a National Football League team back
to Los Angeles.
Peter Diamandis is an influential thinker and investor
engaged in developing a number of transformative technologies.
Among his pursuits, he helped create X Prize Foundation, which
organizes the $10 million prize for advancing private-sector
spaceflight; Human Longevity Inc., focused on extending the healthy
human lifespan; and Singularity University, a Silicon Valley school
studying transformative technologies. He co-founded Planetary
Resources, which is designing spacecraft that can mine asteroids,
and he’s the author of best-seller Abundance: The Future Is Better
Than You Think.
Amy Cuddy, associate professor at Harvard Business
School, is an expert in how humans perceive and are influenced by
others. Through her research into social judgment, emotions,
nonverbal behavior and hormones, she explores the role these
variables play in shaping our emotions and behavior. Dr. Cuddy will
also show attendees how they can channel their own nonverbal
behavior into persuasive leadership. Her 2012 TED talk, “Your Body
Language Shapes Who You Are,” has been streamed more than 20
million times, making it the second-most watched TED talk ever.
Advisors will hear from Fred Tomczyk, president and chief
executive officer of TD Ameritrade Holding Corporation, and TD
Ameritrade Institutional President Tom Nally, who will
provide an overview of the trends impacting RIAs and share their
perspectives on the market. Craig Alexander2, TD Bank
Group’s Chief Economist, will deliver a luncheon address offering
his views on the U.S. and global economies.
