FedEx Executives: May Increase Aircraft Buys If Tax Cut Provisions Pass
December 16 2010 - 10:00AM
Dow Jones News
FedEx Corp. (FDX) executives said Thursday they may increase the
number of cargo aircraft they buy over the next 18 months if
proposed tax legislation agreed to by the Obama administration is
approved.
A provision of the tax legislation would enable businesses to
expense investments faster in 2011.
Chief Executive Fred Smith, speaking on a post-earnings
conference call with analysts, said he is supportive of the tax
deal overall, but specifically cited the expense provision for
businesses.
Later on the call, company executives said they may take
advantage of the provision to increase their aircraft acquisitions
if it is approved.
