VGrid Energy Systems, a California-based renewable energy
company and maker of Persist® plant and soil enhancers, announces
its latest crop trial result ― a 159%
increase in celery yield. In this production trial, Persist®
PAF Liquid Soil Enhancer significantly increased the count, weight,
and marketability of celery specifically planted in conditions
producing a less-than-normal commercial yield due to fusarium
disease.
Product
Persist® PAF is an all-natural liquid containing a synergistic
mix of organic acids and compounds for plants and soil. Academic
research and trial data support PAF’s ability to boost nutrient
uptake, enhance microbial activity, and improve plant development
overall. PAF is OMRI listed for use in USDA organic production and
certified as a 100% bio-based product.
Protocol
This was the fifth Persist® trial conducted by Holden Research
and Consulting (Ventura County, California) and the sixth overall.
Persist® PAF liquid was applied as a soil drench before planting,
with three subsequent applications at two, four, and eight weeks
after planting. This trial specifically evaluated the effectiveness
of PAF in soils infected with fusarium, a common soil fungal
disease that negatively impacts a wide range of crops.
Result
The Persist® PAF treatment increased celery counts by up to 8%,
weights by 25%, and “ready-to-cut” percentages by 83%.
Additionally, the percentage of healthy plants was higher than the
control plot. The result is an extrapolated yield increase of 159%.
It is important to note that PAF does not directly affect fusarium
but, as seen in other trials, has a significant positive impact on
plant growth metrics.
Conclusion
Persist® PAF provides a convenient and sustainable way for
growers to generate additional yield and profits. “This result
wasn’t a one-off success. It’s now our sixth crop trial where PAF
liquid has generated impressive results, including strawberry,
pepper, broccoli, and soybean,” says Jeff Norton, VP of Business
Development at VGrid. “Persist PAF works by amplifying natural
processes, allowing growers to potentially reduce their use of
chemicals and fertilizers.”
