About Fannie May Confections Brands, Inc. Harry London is a part of
Fannie May Confections Brands, Inc. and subsidiary of
1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc. Harry London began making delicious
delicacies for his friends as holiday gifts. Friends were finding
that resistance to these delights was futile. The gifts were
cherished, and soon Harry was receiving requests for his fine
hand-made chocolates. In 1922, Harry - a steelworker by trade -
soon decided to make chocolate his life's work and left his job at
the mill. Thus, Harry London Candies was born. Harry London learned
over time and through the eloquent teachings of his father, Gilbert
London, the true art of making fine confections. Through the years,
his family traditions and recipes are still held to exceptional
standards, for only the high quality ingredients are used to make
chocolates that are simple and pure, rich and complex and filled
with blends that are subtle. The first Fannie May retail store was
opened by H. Teller Archibald in 1920 at 11 N. LaSalle St. in
Chicago. By 1935, there were nearly four dozen retail stores in
Illinois and several neighboring states. Through the years Fannie
May developed candies that went on to become favorites that were
often the center of many family and holiday traditions. Fannie May
Pixies were first made in 1946 by hand-pouring caramel over nuts
and then placing them on a conveyor belt to be drenched in
chocolate. That same commitment to the quality of recipes continues
today, with most of the same ingredients coming from the same
suppliers for many years now. Quality has always been the driving
force behind the making of Fannie May chocolates. Fannie May's
growing popularity as a premium quality product is due to their
innovative approaches in manufacturing, advertising and packaging.
Fannie May stands by all its products and for over 88 years has
provided high quality gourmet chocolates with a 100% satisfaction
guarantee. In May of 2006 Fannie May joined the 1-800-FLOWERS.COM
family of brands. About 1-800-FLOWERS.COM 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc.
