   Christian Salvesen wins #20 million IKEA contract.

Salvesen Logistics has secured a major new #20 million
contract to operate Ikea's first UK distribution centre.

The Swedish home furnishings retailer has 144 stores in
25 countries, including eight in the UK.  Ikea views the
UK as its fastest growing European market and plans to
open  further new stores by the end of the century.

The new distribution centre at Thrapston near Kettering
in Northamptonshire will serve all existing UK stores and
local service centres and is due to become operational in
Autumn 1998.

bring together both Ikea's and Salvesen's European
experience to Ikea's benefit.  I hope that in time we can
demonstrate our experience and expertise to Ikea and
