Notification of Interest in Shares/SSL International PLC

With reference to Section 198 of the Companies Act 1985 (as amended) we are
writing to inform you that following two sales totalling 750,000 shares on 9th
December 1999, the Norwich Union Group no longer has a material interest in your
company.  The Norwich Union holdings are as follows:-

Norwich Union Life and Pensions B A/c          4,339,531
London & Edinburgh Insurance Company Ltd           8,490
Norwich Union Pensions Management Ltd NO 1 A/c   635,120
Norwich Union Pensions Management Ltd No 2 A/c   447,146

                                               5,430,287

The holding represents 2.94% of your current issued share capital of 184,966,293
as supplied to us by Extel.

The interests are being disclosed on behalf of Norwich Union plc (As the
ultimate holding company of the Norwich Union Group of Companies) and the other
companies referred to in this letter of notice.
