                            Directors' Shareholdings


The Company today announces that, on 22 October 2007, the following directors
acquired further ordinary shares of 25 pence each ("Ordinary Shares") in the
Company at a price of 39.25 pence per Ordinary Share under the Company's
dividend reinvestment plan.

(i) Dr Rolf Stomberg, the Chairman of the Company, acquired 4,970 Ordinary
Shares. Following the acquisition of these shares, Dr Stomberg will be
beneficially interested in 604,970 Ordinary Shares representing 0.18 per cent.
of the issued share capital of the Company.

(ii) Mr Kevin Parry, the Chief Executive of the Company, acquired 9,915 Ordinary
Shares. Following the acquisition of these shares, Mr Parry will be beneficially
interested in 1,256,957 Ordinary Shares representing 0.38 per cent. of the
issued share capital of the Company.

(iii) Mr Stephen Ferriss, a non-executive director of the Company, acquired
1,656 Ordinary Shares. Following the acquisition of these shares, Mr Ferriss
will be beneficially interested in 201,656 Ordinary Shares representing 0.06 per
cent. of the issued share capital of the Company.
