   Lonrho announces that Nare Diamonds EGM approves the change of name to 
                                  Lonrho Mining


Lonrho (AIM: LONR), the conglomerate with a structured portfolio of African
investments, is pleased to announce that at an EGM of shareholders of Nare
Diamonds Limited, the African diamond mining company in which it holds a 21.94%
interest, held in Perth on Friday 26th October, Nare changed its name to Lonrho
Mining Limited.


The change in name will permit Lonrho Mining to benefit from the unique brand
name and reputation of Lonrho throughout Africa.


David Lenigas, Lonrho's Executive Chairman commented:


"Lonrho's significant stake in Lonrho Mining, in conjunction with the Board
positions taken by Lonrho Directors, provides Lonrho with a vehicle that can
access, assess, evaluate and selectively develop the flow of potential natural
resource transactions that the Lonrho name generates."
