                          Opening of new betting shops

 

Leisure & Gaming plc ("L&G" or "the Company"), the online betting and gaming
group, is pleased to announce that its subsdiary Betshop Italia has opened the
first of its 59 shops that will operate under new 'corner' licences awarded in
2007. The new licences allow for a greater range of gaming product and greater
operational flexibility, including cash betting over the counter.

 
Henry Birch, Chief Executive of L&G said:

 
"We are pleased to have started opening shops as per plan, operating under new
Italian betting licences, to complement our network of approximately 800 'punti
remoti' shops. Betshop Italia's strategy is to ensure that it has operations and
licences across all the different licensing systems currently in place in Italy
to ensure that we can build on our successful brand and distribution. The
remaining 58 shops will be rolled out over the coming months."
