The Company has been informed that Mr A M D Bird, a Non-Executive Director of
the Company, yesterday, 29 August 2000, purchased 65,000 ordinary shares in
the Company at a price of 19.5p per share.

Mr Bird now has a beneficial interest in 85,000 ordinary shares representing
2.35% of the Company's issued share capital.
