Kromek Group PLC said Monday that it has signed a contract valued at $6 million with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to further develop its bio-threat detection system.

The AIM-listed supplier of detection technology said it will deliver the contract over the next 28 months, starting immediately.

The contract revolves around the phase II of the development of a biological-threat detection system that senses, analyzes and identifies airborne pathogens, Kromek said.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency is part of the U.S. Department of Defense.

Shares at 0710 GMT were up 0.75 pence, or 5%, at 15.75 pence.
