KIMBERLEY DIAMOND COMPANY NL (the Company) (AIM: KDC)

The Company hereby advises that it has today received a notice of initial
substantial holder from Monterrey Investment Management Limited (Monterrey) of
Melbourne Victoria. Monterrey became a substantial holder in the Company on 1
August 2007 when it acquired 37,688,000 shares at a cost of AUD25,439,134
representing 8.8 percent of the Company's issued capital. A copy of the notice
