The Hartstone Group PLC ("Hartstone" or "the Company")

Share Buy-Back

The board of Hartstone announces that, pursuant to the passing by shareholders
of the resolution proposed at the Company's Annual General Meeting held on 30
August 2000 authorising the Company to repurchase shares, the Company today
repurchased a total of 15,500,000 ordinary shares of 1 pence each in the
Company ("the Buy-Back Shares") at a price of 5.5 pence per share.  The
Buy-Back Shares represent approximately 8.2 per cent. of the Company's
existing issued share capital.  The Buy-Back Shares will be cancelled
following the above repurchase thereby reducing the issued share capital of
the Company to 173,542,234 ordinary shares of 1 pence each.
