TARGETS CONFIRMED FROM ASTER-AIDED MAPPING AT THE NIMU PROJECT, TIBET

LONDON - 9 October 2006 - Central China Goldfields plc (AIM: GGG) reports
encouraging results at the Nimu Copper-Molybdenum Project in Tibet.

An on-going ASTER (Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission & Reflection
Radiometry)-aided 1:10,000-scale geological and alteration mapping and sampling
programme conducted by GGG geologists has identified eight outcropping
porphyry-related copper-molybdenum targets. (Refer to press releases dated 15
August 2006 and 11 May 2006 for more background information on the project.)

As a result of these encouraging results, the Company will now aggressively
advance this project.

Nimu is one of four Company 'flagship' projects, the others include: the Snow
Mountain Project in Sichuan, the Song Jia Guo Gold deposit in Eastern China and
the Sawayaerdun Gold Project located in the highly prospective Tian Shan Gold
Belt in Western China. The Song Jia Guo deposit is expected to start producing
regular cash flow within an 18 month period.

have been confirmed and/or identified by semi-detailed geological mapping
and rock sampling. Four targets located at Tinggong, Gangjiang and Bairong
Exploration Licences ("EL") may have significant supergene copper
    enrichment zones.
