DRILLING RESULTS FROM SONGPANGUO
MINERALISATION EXTENDED TO 200 METRES DEEP
LONDON - 20 June 2006
Central China Goldfields plc (AIM: GGG), a mining and exploration company
operating in China, is pleased to report encouraging results from the latest
drilling at the Songpanguo ("SPG") deposit in the Snow Mountain Project,
Sichuan Province of China.
Snow Mountain is emerging as one of the most significant gold regions in China
with Carln-style gold mineralisation.
Jeff Malaihollo, Managing Director of Central China Goldfields, comments:
"We are delighted with these results. Although more work needs to be done, the
results are better than expected as we hit gold mineralisation in every hole,
and to a maximum depth of more than 200 metres. We are waiting for the assay
results from the remaining two holes and the new adits. We will then have the
data to enable us to recalculate the resource estimate at Songpaguo, which
currently stands around 200,000 ounces*."
Highlights:
* Five discrete mineralised zones were intersected in drillhole SPGDH01,
including 8 metres @ 2.28 g/t Au, 3 metres @ 4.30 g/t Au, 6 metres @ 1.62 g
/t Au, 4 metres @ 2.26 g/t Au, and 5 metres @1.33 g/t Au.
* Three distinct mineralised zones were intersected in drillhole SPGDH02,
including 5 metres @ 3.54 g/t Au, 3 metres @ 1.76 g/t Au and 3 metres @
1.00 g/t Au.
* Two separate mineralised zones were intersected in drillhole SPGDH03,
including 12 metres @ 2.05 g/t Au and 3 metres @ 1.13 g/t Au.
* These results show that mineralisation at SPG extends down to at least 200
metres deep and therefore have added a substantial amount of tonnage to the
deposit.
GEOLOGICAL DETAILS:
Fire assay results from the first three of a five hole programme at the SPG
deposit are reported. The drill cores were split by diamond saw, with half sent
to SGS Laboratory in Tianjin, China for analyses. All samples were analysed
using the 50 grammes fire assay method with AAS finish.
These holes are part of a diamond drill programme designed to test the depth
extension of known mineralisation at Songpanguo. The first three holes
confirmed the presence of Zones 3 and 5 at depth. Zone 4, although present at
the surface, does not persist at depth at the northern portion of the deposit.
The geology of the area is dominated by intercalated siltstone, mudstone,
sandstone and marl with abundant late-stage calcite selvedges. Gold
mineralisation is associated with the presence of 1 to 5 volume per cent.
pyrite and occasional presence of realgar and trace to nil amounts of stibnite
and cinnabar in fractured filled veins and veinlets associated with fault
zones. The mineralogy is typical of Carlin-style deposits.
The Company maintains an archive of half core samples and a photographic record
of all cores for future reference.
Drill Hole SPGDH01
Location: northern end of Songpanguo.
Purpose: to test the depth extension of Zone 3.
Highlight of results:

This hole was terminated at 247 metres but was then extended to 352 metres. The
results from 247 - 353 metres have not been received.

Jun Angeles, Exploration Manager of Central China Goldfields comments:
"The mineralisation intercepted by these first three holes show variations of
Carlin-style deposits which are stratabound pyrite-bearing mineralisation,
structurally controlled tabular pyrite-bearing bodies, and later quartz-calcite
realgar-stibnite veins and breccias. "
