Country Gardens plc ("the Company") announces that it is posting its 1997
Annual Report today.  In his letter to shareholders Chairman Geoffrey Caunce
welcomes Richard K. Westmacott as his successor.  Richard  Westmacott, who was
appointed as a non executive director in March 1996, becomes Chairman on 1
July 1998.
