    MXR Consortium awarded Yorkshire digital licence for fifth win in a row


MXR, the consortium created to bid for regional digital radio, and in which UBC
Media Group is a shareholder, has won the digital licence for the Yorkshire
region, the Radio Authority announced yesterday (7 November 2002). This follows
the recent award of the licences for the North West, North East, South Wales/
Severn Estuary and West Midlands regions to the MXR consortium.  As part of
UBC's shareholding arrangement with MXR, the company has exclusive access to the
data capacity on all MXR multiplexes.

The MXR consortium includes lead shareholder Chrysalis Group, together with
fellow UK Stock Exchange listed companies Capital Radio and UBC Media.
Consortium members also include Guardian Media Group, Soul Media and global car
manufacturer, Ford.

The full line-up of services on the multiplex will include:


Capital Disney - a dedicated children's radio station
Urban Choice - The Beat on the streets - hot R&B, urban and hip-hop
Heart - Yorkshire's best music mix
Jazz fm - Jazz, soul and R&B
The Arrow - Adult rock radio - with classic songs from the legends of rock
Smooth - Melodic, memorable, tuneful - mature music for a mature audience
Digital News Network - Rolling local news for Yorkshire
Galaxy 105 - Yorkshire's vibrant mix of dance and rhythmic music
Real Radio - Yorkshire's full speech and music mix


The line-up will also include a data channel, containing news, information and
entertainment for the Yorkshire region, which will be operated by UBC Digital, a
subsidiary of UBC Media Group.

MXR Yorkshire will reach a potential adult audience of 4.3 million.  In total
the coverage for the five MXR Multiplexes is over 17 million adults.  The
multiplex will be live from Summer 2003.
