CENTRAL AFRICAN GOLD GAINS FIRST LICENSE FOLLOWING GRANT OF EXPLORATION RIGHTS
IN KRAAIPAN GREENSTONE BELT IN SOUTHERN BOTSWANA


Further to its announcement dated 19 May 2004, Central African Gold Plc ('CAG'
or 'the Company'), the AIM listed mineral exploration company, is pleased to
announce that it has, through its 53% owned subsidiary Golden Tau Mining Ltd ('
Golden Tau'), has been granted exploration rights over an 872 km area of the
Kraaipan Greenstone Belt in southern Botswana. The licenses, granted by the
Botswana's Department of Mineral and Energy cover all precious metals, though
the Company will primarily concentrate its activities on gold exploration.


CAG director Roy Pitchford said: "This is great news for CAG. These exploration
projects in Botswana fit the goals set by CAG and form part of a number of gold
prospects being pursued in southern Africa, some of which include operating
mines capable of expanding production.


"The Kraaipan Greenstone Belt is host to a number of significant gold deposits,
including the well known Goldridge deposit, which has over 4.0 million ounces of
gold to 150 metres depth. We believe that the area is under explored and its
geology has great potential to house significant gold deposits.


"Botswana has a strong mining tradition. The country has good infrastructure, a
transparent mining code and operates under British commercial, legal and
accounting practices. The government is supportive of the mining sector and
actively encourages foreign investment. We are extremely confident that by
initiating a comprehensive exploration programme that we will be able to locate
deposits that will have substantial economic potential."

2004. A programme of work for these tenements has already been defined and
further exploration will commence shortly.
