                      INTERIM FINANCE DIRECTOR APPOINTMENT

As a result of the forthcoming maternity leave of Finance Director, Marsali
Harwood, Charteris plc, the Business and IT management consultancy, announces
the appointment of Joanne Elizabeth Stimpson (nee Peacock), aged 40, as Interim
Finance Director. The appointment, as an Alternate Director, is effective from
14 October 2002 and is expected to continue until Marsali's return in May 2003.

Jo Stimpson has considerable experience in the IT services industry. She
qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst and Young, subsequently joining
International Computers Limited, where her roles included Divisional Finance
Director of the UK and pan-European operations of ICL Sorbus (the multi-vendor
service Business), Divisional Finance Director of ICL Financial Services and
Finance Director of ICL Omnia Limited.

In 2001 Jo joined a Venture Capital backed IT/Telecommunication start-up where,
as Finance Director Designate, she played a key role in the negotiation of the
sale of the business. Prior to joining Charteris she led the Finance function in
a privately owned IT Services company, DXI Networks Limited and, at the same
time, provided financial and commercial consultancy to a number of IT focused
companies.
