            BellSouth Introduces Faster High-Speed Internet Service

                 -- Customers Experience Speeds up to 6Mbps --

Atlanta - Nov. 16, 2005 - BellSouth (NYSE: BLS) announced today a new high-speed
Internet service that offers twice the download speed of its current fastest
service. The new BellSouth(R) FastAccess(R) DSL Internet service delivers
residential customers downstream connection speeds of up to 6Mbps and upstream
connection speeds up to 512Kbps.

"BellSouth recognizes that many of our customers want faster speeds to get the
most out of their Internet experience," said Pam Jones, vice president of data
product management for BellSouth. "We are committed to providing the greatest
choice and value to our customers - and with this new service, BellSouth now
offers the widest range of broadband options in our market."

FastAccess DSL Xtreme 6.0 will be offered to residential customers for $46.95
per month, will provide customers with a fourth FastAccess DSL service option.
The new service is ideal for those who want to download large files like movies,
or use online gaming at lightning-fast speeds. BellSouth's tiered approach to
broadband already includes the following speeds:

*     FastAccess DSL Xtreme, with up to 3Mbps downstream X 384Kbps upstream,
allows customers to download, surf and game online at lightning-fast speeds, and
is available for $42.95 per month.

*      FastAccess DSL Ultra, ideal for downloading large files, enjoying
streaming video and online games at speeds up to 1.5Mbps downstream X 256Kbps
upstream, is available for $32.95 per month.

*      FastAccess DSL Lite, perfect for e-mailing, Web surfing and online
banking without the delays and hassles of dial-up, at speeds up to 256Kbps
downstream X 128Kbps upstream, is available for $24.95 per month.
