PR Newswire (US)
PEORIA, Ill., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Since the June 23rd
introduction of the Ameren Illinois Utilities ActOnEnergy(TM)
electric business customer incentive program, the initiative has
demonstrated that Illinois businesses are eager to improve the
energy efficiency of their facilities and operations. As of Sept.
1, electric business customers have applied for 76 percent of the
$3 million in standard and custom incentive funds that are
available for the first year of the program. "Businesses throughout
our Illinois service territory recognize the value of our standard
program that provides incentives for the installation of
energy-efficient lighting, heating and cooling systems,
refrigeration and motor systems," said Cheryl A. Miller,
ActOnEnergy(TM) business program manager for the Ameren Illinois
Utilities. "In addition, some business customers are able to take
advantage of our custom business program which provides incentives
for such projects as variable-frequency drives on process fans and
pumps, compressed air system improvements, improvements to reduce
energy use in manufacturing processes and other initiatives,"
Miller said. Projects submitted after first-year funds are
exhausted will be placed on a waiting list in the event additional
funds become available. If funds do not become available,
businesses will be invited to resubmit their projects for year-two
funds, which must have installation dates of June 1, 2009 through
May 31, 2010. Ameren Illinois Utilities electric distribution
business customers who choose to participate in the ActOnEnergy(TM)
program may realize these benefits: -- Cash-back incentives from
the Ameren Illinois Utilities for the implementation of approved
electric energy efficiency measures. -- Energy efficiency
modifications to buildings and operating systems can reduce energy
use, which will lower energy bills. -- Typically, energy efficiency
projects boost employee comfort and help improve productivity. --
Reductions in energy use have an environmental impact by reducing a
business' carbon footprint and helping decrease the need for new or
expanded electric generating plants. Complete information,
including application forms, is available at the ActOnEnergy(TM)
Web site (http://www.actonenergy.net/) in the "For My Business"

gas customers in a 43,700-square-mile area of Illinois. DATASOURCE:
