Redemption of US$100,000,000 7% Guaranteed Convertible Bonds
Due 2004 ('the Bonds') of Samancor Overseas Financing Company
Limited guaranteed by Samancor Limited

An extraordinary resolution to amend the terms of the Bonds
was passed by the requisite majority of bondholders on 4
December 1998, providing for the early redemption of the
Bonds.  The results of this meeting, including the notice of
redemption of Bonds, were published in the Financial Times in
London on Monday, 7 December 1998.  In terms of the notice,
redemption of all of the Bonds was effected on 29 January
1999.
