MOSCOW--Russia's Federal Antimonopoly Service said in a
statement Friday it has sent a request to the Moscow Arbitration
Court to withdraw a lawsuit against Norwegian telecommunications
company Telenor ASA (TEL.OS) linked to its increase of its stake in
VimpelCom Ltd. (VIP).
Given the current balance between shareholders, the regulator
has decided to withdraw the lawsuit, requesting the revoking of all
the injunction measures against the company.
"We thank VimpelCom shareholders for their cooperation, for the
tolerance they have shown in this...dispute, and we are very happy
it is over," Igor Artemyev, head of FAS, said in a statement.
