Siemens AG said Monday that it has received an order for 31 battery-electric trains for regional services in Germany.

The industrial company said rail-service provider Niederbarnimer Eisenbahn ordered 31 two-car Mireo Plus B trains for the East Brandenburg rail network in the Berlin-Brandenburg area, the region that includes and surrounds the German capital in the east of the country.

Services are expected to launch in December 2024.

The order also includes a service and spare-parts supply contract until 2036.
