Renault: Probe Into Employee Ethics Breach Continues
January 06 2011 - 8:05AM
Dow Jones News
An internal inquiry into ethics breaches by three senior
executives of French car maker Renault SA (RNO.FR) is continuing, a
spokeswoman for the company said Thursday.
As reported earlier, Renault has suspended the work contracts of
the three employees who are suspected of giving out proprietary
information harmful to the company's interests. Renault has
declined to identify the executives, citing the need for
confidentiality.
French Industry Minister Eric Besson said earlier Thursday that
the ethics breaches involved information related to Renault's
electric vehicles program. A Renault spokeswoman said she couldn't
deny Besson's remarks, but said the investigation is broader than
these projects.
Renault is one of the leading proponents of electric vehicle
technology, and together with its Japanese partner Nissan Motor Co.
(7201.TO) is investing EUR4 billion to carve itself a large slice
of the market for these vehicles in the coming years.
