Canadian Poker Tour Announces the 2010 Canadian Open Poker Championships – the Largest Poker Series in Canadian History

HeadsUp Entertainment International Inc. (Pinksheets: HDUP) operators of the Canadian Poker Tour (CPT) and Canadian Poker Player Magazine are pleased to announce details of this year’s premier poker event, the 2010 Canadian Open Poker Championships. Having grown steadily since the inaugural event in 2006, this year’s series will be hosted at the 3 major casinos in Calgary, Alberta in a partnership arrangement facilitated by HeadsUp President and CEO Kelly Kellner. By working together, the venues have the opportunity to make what traditionally is a very slow time for the casinos into what is believed will be the most successful poker series ever held in the country.

13 events will be held over 11 days from August 19th to August 29th and again this year will feature the $5,000 heads up main event. This event has attracted poker pros and celebrities from around the world in prior years and this event looks to attract more than ever. Last year’s player list included Phil Hellmuth, Gavin Smith, Huckleberry Seed, Antonio Esfandiari, Mike Matusow, “Yukon” Brad Booth and Greg Mueller. In previous years, Jennifer Tilly, Phil Laak and Joe Hachem have all attended and bragged about the player friendly structure with many commenting that it is the premier heads up event in the world.

With the expansion to a multiple venue format, larger starting fields will attract players from around the world and total estimated prize pools look to exceed $3,500,000. A full schedule of events is as follows:

Event 6 – August 24 - $330 buy in – no Limit Texas Hold’Em

Event 7 – August 25 - Canadian Ladies Championship - $550 buy in - no Limit Hold’Em

Event 8 – August 25- Pot Limit Omaha Championship - $1100 buy in

Event 9 – August 27 - Canadian No Limit Hold’Em Championship - $2200 buy in

Event 10 – August 28 - $550 buy in - no Limit Texas Hold’Em

Event 11 – August 29 - $1100 buy in - no Limit Texas Hold’Em

Winners of all events will receive a special Canadian Open Championship ring that has been designed and will be personalized for all first place finishers. The rings are being produced by Intergold, a Calgary company which also produces the championship rings for the Stanley Cup, the NBA Finals and the Superbowl champions.

The Canadian Poker Tour and HeadsUp Entertainment have been known around the poker world for their parties surrounding major events and this year The Ultimate Players Party will be the biggest and best ever. With a major announcement confirming the entertainment coming within days for the heads up bracket drawing, this private event will be nothing less than spectacular and one of the most sought after tickets around. What is new this year is the announcement of a partnership deal to host a series of nightly events for players and spectators alike at the Rusty Cage south location which will be the headquarters for the nightly festivities.

Canadian Poker Player Magazine, published by HeadsUp Entertainment, will be distributing a special Canadian Open edition for its July issue which will be a guide for players during this event and an effective marketing tool to promote the Canadian Open in poker rooms and to its CPT members across the country. HeadsUp’s other media asset, the Canadian Poker Player Television Network, will be providing innovative and real time coverage of the Canadian Open and serve as a launch for the full programming rotation subsequent to the successful beta launch of the online network.
