All Nippon Airways Co. (9202.TO) and Boeing (BA) said Friday they have set a date for the first delivery of the much-awaited Boeing 787 Dreamliner passenger jet.

The two companies will sign a contract on Sept. 25 in the U.S., with the aircraft arriving in Tokyo on Sept. 28 following a Sept. 27 departure from Everett, Wash.

The Japanese airline is the first customer to take possession of the aircraft, which has been hit by delays throughout its development.

An additional 11 Dreamliners are scheduled to be delivered to ANA by the end of March, followed by another eight in the next fiscal year through March 2013. ANA has ordered a total of 55 of the aircraft.
