OMVS Targets New International Charter Opportunities
December 02 2013 - 5:00AM
Business Wire
On the Move Systems Corp. (OTCBB: OMVS), a growing online travel
provider, is currently evaluating a potential deal to begin
offering charter flights to Cuba through its innovative new online
portal now under development.
Currently, the company is negotiating to sell chartered flights
on the site from Southwest Florida to Cuba through its joint
venture partner, Gulf Coast Aircraft, Inc. The companies are
working on an agreement that would find OMVS referring air
travelers to Gulf Coast Aircraft, Inc. through its groundbreaking
portal in exchange for a share of travel agent commissions.
Travel between the U.S. and Cuba is restricted and often
inconvenient, since tourism by Americans in the Communist nation
has been barred. Many U.S. citizens, however, can now get
permission for travel to Cuba from a licensed service provider, as
designed by the U.S. Treasury Department and the Office of Asset
Control (OFAC), instead of through the U.S. government. OMVS sees
these changing regulations as a major market opportunity.
While terms are being negotiated, work continues on OMVS’
groundbreaking ISTx platform, the digital heart of its plan to
compete in the $300 billion online transportation industry by
offering niche services such as private air charters, intermodal
transport, luxury driving, pet shipping and more.
This year, a third of all travel sales around the globe will be
booked online, according to a report by the travel research company
PhoCusWright. The ISTx platform is key to OMVS’ plans to market and
develop new solutions that will allow it to compete in the online
travel market alongside Priceline.com (NASDAQ: PCLN),
TripAdvisor.com (NASDAQ: TRIP) and Expedia.com (NASDAQ: EXPE).
