MONTRÉAL, April 30, 2019 /CNW
Telbec/ - For the first time since its inception, the Quebecor
Gallery will exhibit the work of a photographer. In Si le Québec
m'était conté, celebrated Montréal portraitist
Pierre Dury immortalizes leading
figures of contemporary Québec in his signature candid style.
"We are proud to show the work of this major photographer at the
Quebecor Gallery," says Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of
Quebecor. "His photos capture the essence of eminent figures from
Québec's history and culture. This exhibition pay tributes to the
men and women who have shaped contemporary Québec and will be an
inspiration for generations to come."
For years, Pierre Dury has been
patiently and respectfully training his lens on the leading lights
of Québec's political arena and arts and music scenes. The
exhibition brings together some 60 portraits featuring 86
personalities who have left their mark on Québec, including René
Lévesque, Bernard Landry,
Pauline Marois, Félix Leclerc,
Jean-Pierre Ferland, Marjo, Marcel
Dubé, Janine Sutto, Robert Lepage, Robert
Charlebois and Pierre Péladeau. The body of work on display
at the Quebecor Gallery thus embodies Pierre Dury's desire to commemorate the iconic
figures of Québec's modern history.
The exhibition opens on June 16,
2019 at the Quebecor Gallery (ground floor of Quebecor's
head office) and will be open to the public Monday to Friday,
8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Since 2012, the
Quebecor Gallery has hosted exhibitions by well-known Québec
artists including Armand
Vaillancourt, Marc Seguin,
Louis Boudreault and Françoise
Sullivan, as well as a retrospective of the Refus global
manifesto, 70 years later.
